You are invited to an evening of Champagne, ceremony, blind wine tasting, and celebration.
June 20, 2026 Salt Lake Masonic Temple
In 1976, a blind tasting in Paris quietly challenged the foundations of the wine world.
That same year, the Salt Lake City Bailliage held its first induction dinner.
Fifty years later, we bring these moments together—honoring a year that reshaped both wine and our own story.
The evening will begin with a Champagne social, followed by the formal induction and elevation ceremony.
Guests will then be seated for a multi-course dinner, thoughtfully recreating the original 1976 Salt Lake City Bailliage induction menu.
Throughout the evening, wines will be presented blind—selected in the spirit of the historic tasting that inspires this event. Each pairing invites discovery, guided not by label, but by the glass.
The wines will remain unknown until the conclusion of each course.
As the evening unfolds, it will transition into a celebration of 1976—an era of energy, elegance, and cultural shift. Guests are invited to take part in the celebration or to remain and enjoy the evening at their own pace.
In 1976, a blind tasting in Paris brought together French and American wines, judged by some of the most esteemed palates of the time.
The expectation was unmistakable: France would prevail.
The results told a different story.
The outcome challenged long-held assumptions and reshaped the global wine landscape, marking one of the most consequential moments in modern wine history.
This evening draws inspiration from that turning point—inviting guests to experience wine as it was that day: without expectation, and open to discovery.
